First Days at Home

Hello again, I am happy to say (knock on wood) sleeping is going much much better. The gagging has stopped and we have learned that Rece likes to be swaddled tightly and have his sound machine going and he is sleeping like a champ. There have been a couple of times I have had to wake him up to eat, when he was still deep in sleep mode after 3 hours. Last night I got the most sleep so far, and hence why I am on line this morning updating the blog...

Jeremy went back to school today so this is our first day flying solo. Steve and Lynn, Jeremy's mom and dad arrive early Friday morning and it will be great to have some company over the weekend.

Here are some pictures from the first week at home, I will post some more that my mom took when Jeremy gets home as they are on his laptop.

Checking in

I have a few minutes so I thouhgt I would post quickly to let everyone know how we are doing. Everything went fine at the hospital, I was induced because I had a fluid leak, there was little to no progress the first 18 or so hours, then the doctor offically broke my water and things pretty much flew from there. I was about 3cm and 90% effaced at 1:30 pm and things progressed rapidly, I started pushing at 3:20, Rece was born at 3:30pm. The doctor and nurses were scrambling at the end to get all thier gear prepared for his birth. He was 6lbs, 13 oz and 20 inches long. We came home on Monday and so far, so good. Rece is a very good baby so far, our main struggle so far is geting him comfortable laying/sleeping on his back, he likes to be upright. Because my actual delivery went so fast he didn't expell a lot of the mucus in his lungs/stomach and he is a little early so the Dr. says both are contributing to a gag reflux and gas issue which makes him very mad when he is laid down. So we have been working in shifts so he can sleep upright on someone's shoulder just for a few more days. We continue to work with him laying down trying not to let him cry for two long as when he gets really worked up the gag reflux gets going. Other than that he eats about every 3 hours and then sits in the swing or sleeps for about 3 hours, and that is how we have spent the days. :-)
My parents arrived on Tuesday and that has been great, allowing Jeremy and I some time to get groceries etc and some needed naps as well.

Thanks to everyone for the congrats and warm wishes and for reaching out to see how things are going. I apologize for not getting back to all of you yet, I am sure as we settle in a little more I will have some more time.

Hope all is well with everyone,

This is it - A Valentines Baby?

Well, as they say the best laid plans...

I had some fluid leaking and wasn't sure what it was so I went to the Dr. this afternoon. Go figure it is amniotic fluid....

So here I am writing from my the confines of my new hospital room, I was induced at 3:40 this afternoon. I am starting to have some mild contractions now, nothing all that noticeable and they say the baby looks like a champ on the monitor so all looks good for us to have a little February baby boy.

I had planed to work all next week in the office and then work from home the last week of Feb leading up to my due date the first week of March. And tomorrow I was supposed to get my eye brows done and my hair cut and go out to dinner with Jeremy and clean out the fridge....BUT Rece has other plans, I guess he figures "full term" means enough (so like his Mommy - impatient for results) and is ready to make his appearance. I tried to negotiate with the Doctor to see if I really really needed to be induced or if I could wait a week or so, but go figure she said yes you really really should be induced to prevent infection. So again, here I am....

We will post of our funny little valentine as soon as we have them...

37 Weeks

Yea! I officially made it to "full term" - and I do feel rather full at this point. Although every book I have says that the baby's movements should be smaller (ie less powerful kicks) now as he is running out of room and can't really flip and turn as much as just wiggle anymore...not my boy, he continues to somersault in there with no regard for his mommy's ribs, sides, bladder and other parts. In the last week I have felt hiccups distinctly lower center, on the left side, and once last week at the top of my right side just under my ribs. That day he really beat me up good and a couple of times literally took my breath away and then sure as could be the next day the hiccups moved head down again. Today at my Dr's visit, she said he was head down and that was good but she thinks he is a "swimmer" and wants to keep a close eye on his position over the next 3 weeks. Anyway, pic from this weekend, perhaps the baby bump shirt will make it through the whole pregnancy after all...

Also a couple of pictures of Jeremy and our current baby watching the superbowl...

Car seat curious?

Alright another question for the moms out there...you all gave me such great tips on the diapers I am sure your advice on this one will be just as helpful :-)
We installed our car seats on Sunday, and used the LATCH system, which both of our cars have. The installing was fine and we are going to have the State Police inspect our work for free this weekend. But then I went back to some of the info we had recieved that says the seat should be placed in the rear center whenever possible. Well of course the LATCH system is only on the left or right and not in the middle, so I ask - where is your car seat installed? Did you use the LATCH or do the more involved belt install in the middle?
