I need to restock the winerator. I love wine but I want to branch out, so please suggest your fave whites and reds for my tasting pleasure. I am ready to try some new ones!!!
Meagan is right- Gewurztraminers are fantastic. For $13-$18 bucks, you can get a great bottle of white. It's slightly "spicy"- and goes great with spicy food, like Thai. I also love Gruner Ventliner and Kerner (which is pretty rare varietal to find, but is a lovely low alcohol wine with a lovely peachy oily-ness). Do you like Pinot Noir? Try a Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley in Oregon. It's not as in your face as a Sideways Central Coast pinot- but still fruit forward. We also recently had a fantastic $15 bottle from Monterey, CA- 2006 Montoya Vineyards. Finally, we're drinking a lot of Zinfandel. Any Zinfandel by Seghesio Vineyards is a good bet. The Rockpile one is my favorite. Finally, if you'd like some bubbly in the winerator, Domaine Chandon Pinot Noir Reserve Brut is a sure bet- it pairs well with food, and has a slight nutty quality that makes it interesting to drink on its own.
Wish you were still in Michigan, we have been attending wine tastings since Dec. once a month hosted at each of our friends houses, with a different wine each time, first was Malbec, Chardonney and the most recent was Shiraz. Here are some favs from the Shiraz tasting, Winking Owl - California Shiraz, this was by far the winner for the night everyone rated this wine 1st or 2nd, deep red with fruity plum notes, pepper and super smooth, the fantastic news was that it runs $4 a bottle!! We do a blind tasting and don't reveal the prices until everyone rates their favorites. Other top rated wines were Rosemont Shiraz & Banrock Station Shiraz both from Austrailia. Hopefully your winerator takes reds.

Sutter Home Moscato is my fave. It is a sweet wine. Easy to drink.
I wish I had some suggestions...but it feels like it has been soooooo long since I have had any that right now, even boxed wine sounds good!
Hi Chass,
Try some German wines - they actually have great flavor and are not overly expensive. I tend to prefer Gewurztraminer. I also really love Eiswein.
