Flu Shot?

Are you getting a flu shot for your kid? What about the H1N1 shot? I am conflicted on what to do. This year because of the two different shots - and because they give two shots (I am assuming half doses) for each that is 4 flu shots for babies over 6 months old. I can't imagine Rece getting 4 flu shots! That seems unreal.
I just read a really good, unbaised article here. I really don't know what to do. Those with little ones - what are you doing? I won't judge, I don't have an opinion either way as of yet.

I'm getting them for Evan. Maybe I am too trusting in doctors, but I know that children 0-24 mo at one of the highest priorities for H1N1 due to the weak immune systems...and it can be serious. If E wasn't in daycare, I don't know if I would still be getting them or not. But every illness runs crazy through there, so I feel he needs it. And with me in the schools, I bring home lots and lots of germs (I am also getting both shots...but I don't seems to mind them as much as E does). I know it's such a controversial topic these days, how to properly immunize your children...just do what you think is right for you and Rece. I know a lot of people who are not going to do it.

Madelyn and I both got the flu shot last year. We did not get the flu but I'm not in any kind of a hurry to get her in for it this year. Mainly because she just doesn't get sick much.
As far as this swine flu vaccine, definitely not. I just can't inject something into my baby that has only been around for months and we have no idea of it's long term affects or geez even the short term. I just wash her hands with soap and water often as well as use antibacterial wipes on her when we're out in public etc. It's really you decision and what you feel if right for you though:)too many decisions to make as a parent!

Drew and I got the seasonal flu shot last year. We both got the flu shot this year. My doctor said that he likes them to get the flu shot in the "two doses" as you mentioned. So I don't know when he will get it again.

But we are definitely not getting the swine flu vaccine. As Allison said I just don't trust something that hasn't been out very long. However, as Julie talked about - Drew is not in daycare and definitely hasn't been as sick as kids in daycare can be. So I don't think it is necessary for us this year. We really are only around other kids once a week for 45 minutes.

I will just cross my fingers and hope that we are making the right decision for us. Definitely think about it and do what is right for your family. It is a difficult decision having their health riding on our decisions.

Neither me or my son will be getting the shots.

I don't know if you will come back to this post and get my comments but I wanted to update my opinion:)

I was dead set- against the H1N1 vaccine up until this past week. I was poorly educated about it I guess. I have since decided to want to get it. I get the flu shot every year and this is no different than that, it's just a different dead virus in the shot. I didn't realize that. Each year, the regular flu vaccine changes the dead virus as the scientists try to predict which strain will be the most rampant that season. I never question that and get it for myself and my daughter. Just thought I'd clarify my uninformed opinion to your post:) That's what I'm doing, but it's up to you to decide what your gut is telling you!
